TV-Tipp: ‚Menschenhandel‘ auf Arte

Herrje. Was angenehmes.

    Viel Spass beim Bier!

    Danke Fred :-)

Thanks for bringing this special feature on slavery to the attention of your readers at Spreeblick. I viewed the documentaries by chance on the first airing and was fascinated with the information presented in Antoine Vitkine’s film about the history of the slave trade in the Middle East and trade of black Africans between African kingdoms.

For your information the film (auf Deutsch) „Sklaven für den Orient“ will be repeating at ARTE TV on July 18th (11:05 AM). The film about slavery in Mauritania „Die letzten Sklaven“ last aired on July 3rd. I’m working on a translation (German text to English) of the ARTE TV program descriptions and will publish to my blog sometime this week. I’ve also drilled down online and found more historical research on the subject so you may want to check that out too.

Thanks also to Van for those links to the streaming video files hosted (presumably) at ARTE +7. The URL for „Sklaven für den Orient“ is amazingly still working as of today. It was a tremendous help to me to be able to view that documentary again. For some strange reason the ARTE +7 online video archives are not accessable online outside of France, Germany, and a handful of French territories and former colonies around the globe.

Again, thanks for your help in researching this important subject. It’s what blogging is supposed to be all about, sharing information and knowledge with one another around the world.
